Man arrested in Florida for allegedly viewing child pornography

The coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old man in Palm Bay on charges of possessing child pornography. Special agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement approached the man at his residence on Malabar Lakes Drive. They confronted him with evidence that he had been viewing child pornography on his father's computer in another state.

According to an affidavit, the man acknowledged that he had lived with his father for two months and used his computer. He said that he had been viewing adult pornography and might have accidentally seen pornography involving children. During these online sessions, he reportedly used the Tor browser because he thought that it would hide his IP address. He then gave his computer password to a special agent and allowed an inspection of his computer.

The agent found images and video of underage individuals performing sex acts. The ages of the minors appeared to range from 4 to 11 years. The evidence resulted in 15 counts of possessing child pornography against the man. Authorities jailed him under a $150,000 bond.

A conviction for offenses related to child pornography could require someone to register as a sex offender. This status could limit employment opportunities and restrict access to housing. The efforts of an attorney might reduce a prosecutor's ability to take a case to trial and enable a plea deal that reduces charges.
