According to the arrest warrant, the wife responded that the death had happened the night before. Investigators later estimated that the man died 11 hours before his wife called 911. During her conversation with the dispatcher, she allegedly said that her husband tried to choke and smother her. She grabbed a knife in self defense, but he took the knife away from her and apparently stabbed himself. She said that she hid in the bathroom after their fight and found him in a pool of blood when she came out.

The cause of death has not been made available to the public yet. Police said that the crime scene looked like someone had tried to clean it up with bleach. The woman has been in custody at the Orange County Jail.
