Man accused of selling cocaine near a school

On March 21, a 30-year-old Florida man was arrested for allegedly attempting to sell cocaine close to a school. The incident took place in Fort Walton Beach in Okaloosa County.

According to authorities, deputies from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's office took the defendant into custody for alleged possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. During a subsequent interview with investigators, he reportedly admitted that he had 10 grams of marijuana hidden in a container in the garage of his home.

Deputies from the Okaloosa County Street Crimes Unit then executed a search warrant at the defendant's home, which is located on the 600 block of Lloyd Street. During the search, they allegedly uncovered suspected marijuana, suspected cocaine HLC that had been pre-packaged for sale and multiple items of drug paraphernalia, including a marijuana grinder. A search of the defendant's vehicle also yielded cocaine HCL and packaging materials. The defendant's home is located within 1,000 feet of Calvary Christian Academy. He was charged with marijuana possession, cocaine distribution within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released on a bond of $11,000.

Individuals charged with narcotics offenses could turn to a Florida drug charges law firm for advice. Legal counsel could evaluate a case and explain all defense strategies available. One strategy could involve fighting the charges in court in hopes of getting the charges dismissed or winning an acquittal at trial. Another strategy may involve negotiating a plea deal that allows the defendant to plead guilty to less serious charges. This could spare the defendant from having to go through a trial that leads to a harsher sentence.
